outside air temp gauge

I am thinking of changing my dash in the new year for the one with the outside air temp and econometer , couldnt see a how to guide for it but seem to remember the gauge guru (foggy ) was going to do it st Gaydon , I knoe the air temp sensor fits by the nearside bumper bracket, but how difficult is the rest of this mod to do ? i.e. how do you install the econometer .also has anyone got a complete six dial dash for sale in the new year ?

easy peasy. dont need to change the dash either, just plug the gauges into your current one. unfortunatly, getting hold of the gauges is pretty tricky.

my cluster should have its secret mod in place by the end of next week

You mean the switchable interior / exterior temp gauge mod? Hehe...oops

Mick...I have several temp gauges in stock....but econ gauges are harder to get as they are in the habit of breaking - Just ask Chris_C about his recent experiences!

I was hoping to do the same in the new year Mick, include econometer and air temp gauges. Between the six cars in my garden and all of the 360's my parents have owned, only one has had those gauges, and they were removed before I got the car! James, I may be in touch regarding the gauges, like I said at Gaydon, I'm still trying to contact my source, but I may be interested in just the temp gauge for now.

Bah, Econ gauges, hmph

But temp gauges are cool!!! (once you sort out the %$%)$£ wiring thats decided to come loose!!)

If you need any help Mick, I've just traced out all the associated wiring runs that the temp gauge uses, but you shouldn't have any trouble (really!!!)!

I've never come across the wiring on the car causing trouble before - I think it must be because Chris has such an old example

temp gauge just uses brown and stripey black from the loom behind the dash..

I think Chris' difficulties related to the power feed from the panel...?

eh? if you wire up them 2 connectors to the sensor, thats all you need to do.

Obviously the gauge requires power to operate....and I think the connections to the panel for this power supply were loose.

The brown and white/black stripey connectors you're on about Hugh have two wires in them each, one pair going to the dash, and the other going to the multiway plugs that go through the fuse box, it was one on them having an iffy connection that made it play up!

Wasn't bothered after it started working to follow the wires engine-side to find out where they go after that.

forgot yours were pre-wired - i just bunged my wiring in OVER all the other wires

Hi everyone, I've spent sometime today fitting the ambient temperature gauge, which the Gauge Guru has supplied me with, no problems, until I came to look for the spade connectors under the dash and by the steering column. I can't seem to find them! All I can find is something that can't be it, over to the left ot the dash, by the fan switch, as it has a green and a brown wire going to a plug, with the spade connectors in, like a T shape. Any clues as to where the connectors are, as in, close to the steering column, behind the fuse box? Any help kindly appreciated.
