Are the rear handbrake cables inter-changeable from side to side or is there a difference between the two?
If they are different then what is the difference between them and to which side?

This parts website suggests they are interchangeable on a 340

http://www.carparts-cat.com/pkw/parts/k ... ID=0,6,635

but not on a 360 (from Ch.No. 7010000). You'd have to check VADIS (or your dealer) to be sure though ...

Both sides are tEh same! But although both ends of the cables look the same, they're slightly different sizes. You'll feel silly if you put them in wrong (ask me how I know).

I just realised the link I posted doesn't work when the session has expired.

Klick on
http://www.autoteile-shopping.de/default.asp?lang=en
select your vehicle,
do a search for Cable
klick on "Cable, park brake"

and you have the page I was looking at (under "Quinton Hazell")...
a bit long winded, I know ;-)

Thanks for the link. I see what you mean, some are slightly longer for the right side. Wonder if I put them in on the wrong side when I fitted them as I thought they would have been the same but forgot to check when I took them out the bags.
Oh well, it will give me a chance to oil the front one this time as I will take the lot off and do them again.

Many thanks,
