Ive got a problem happended twice on the way home where i have no pedal

how ever hard you press the pedal the revs wont raise at all, had a look through previous posts, im scepitcal that a fuel filter can do this if it was blocked it would be slow revving plus this is intermitant.
Got to be a sensor , doesnt sound like its lacking oxygen more fuel starvation, whats the fuel setup on these?
Cheers tom

I would start with the fuel filter just to make sure. Might be worth checking to see if the butterfly in the inlet manifold isn't sticking aswell...wait for the more knowledgeable guys to come on though.

Was the engine running badly, stalling or spluttering when you pressed the pedal or was it just like nothing happened when you pushed the pedal?
Stuck throttle cable/throttle body mechanism comes in mind first if nothing happened when you pushed the pedal
Also there's a throttle position switch at the throttle body but I'm not sure if it would cause symptoms like that because I once accidently drove the car when it was disconnected and only difference was a lower performance when flooring the car.
Also a large intake leak between the airflow meter and throttle body can cause the car to stall/splutter when the pedal is pressed but it wouldn't probably be something which would only occur sometimes.
