Thermometer

Hi, do you guys know where the outside thermometer is located on the 360 ?
you'd save me the trouble of looking for it, since I don't have the service manual. By the way, you wouldn't happen to have the service manual in PDF or something would you ?

From memory, it's stuck in the RH bumper holder. If it's been retro-fitted, it might just be flapping around in the engine bay somewhere (like mine is )

Yeah that's where I fitted mine and it seems to work fine. Even with my vario bumper inserts it doesn't seem affected by wind chill or anything.

well, sometimes when I turn off the engine, and wait a while, the thermometer shows temperature of 20C or even 40C. It doesnt happen often, but I think it might be heated from an engine or something...

As far as I'm aware these temperature sensors will not be in any way affected by wind chill John, not entirely sure how that's measured other than on a calculation of wind speed and the temperature.

Anywho, due to where the sensor is located, it is forward of the engine and when moving, the heat from the engine isn't flowing around the sensor, but when you stop in traffic for example, or turn the car off and let it cool, the sensor is picking up the warm air as it spreads outwards from the engine as it isn't being blown back away from the sensor as it would when the car is moving and reporting a false reading for the outside temperature elsewhere. It's perfectly normal and is an issue on a lot of vehicles, it's something to remember when sitting in traffic or if you stop, then start off again while the engine is still warm, as the reading will be inaccurate for the outside temperature, and might catch you out if you're relying on it to warn you of ice formation.

Unless you had the sensor on a stick, a few feet further forward on your car, there isn't really anywhere where it won't be affected in some way. There are more shielded areas, but cooling fans etc can shift the air around and circulate it around the sensor, brakes will give off heat etc.

More modern cars get around this problem by having the sensor nowhere near the engine, eg: the wing mirror.
