Cross drilling wheels?

Are there any known pitfalls/dangers related to this practice that im missing?
There seems to be a load of 4x108 wellers swamping ebay at the minute, and ive seen some cross drilled with 4x100 before, so apart from the obvious asthetic considerations, is there any other reason not to redrill the wheel in our pcd, spread opposite the existing holes?

Cheers boys.

That's exactly what I'm doing with those exact wheels dude lol. No dangers TBH. They're steel so it's not an issue. I finally get mine this coming week too - mates back up lol.

Cheap cheap 8)

Only thing to watch out IMO dude is that the holes are drilled central, but that's a given aint it!

I have redrilled R34 GTR discs from 5x114.3 to 4x114.3 before and they are spot on, just used a 4x114.3 hub with two of the studs knocked out and a bench drill to make sure it was shit hot. 340pw

Wellers all round! They're too cheap to ignore aren't they lol

Only thing I can think of is stock wheel nuts are taper seat, so you either need that taper cut or get flat bottom nuts. But then I havn't thought for more than 30secs about it!

Cheers mr c.
Im pretty much stocked up on all varieties of nuts ever created after my last wheel nut fiasco.
I was worried more about the loss of regidity and strength that popping more holes through might cause.
But if theres no real issue there, i'll get me drilling pants on.

From emeory the weller wheel are not simply drilled but punched giving a raised taper for the nuts to be tightened properly. The taper is important for wheel centering. Drilling a new set of holes in wheels is a no no in my book.

yeah, thats the reply i got from pop's machine shop too.
You can do it, but dont.

Spend the rest of your life tightening nuts every 200 yards/dying.

back to the drawing board.

Definitely don't drill new holes to wheels, that is quite risky as it takes strength from wheel, that is at least my take on this subject.
