Wipers wont turn off...

This is mildly annoying... ...and yes today I am practising the art of understatement

As soon as I turn the ignition on, the wipers pick up on standard speed, no matter what position the stalk is in. I can make them faster by clicking to that speed, but not any slower or off.

For now I have cut into the Blue wire for standard speed and put a switch in to turn them off. although if you move the stalk to off or intermittent then they're off again at the standard speed. (So they're currently usable, but not great)

They weren't like this when I parked it up. It's just developed over the weeks that it has sat while I've been away.

Any Ideas?

Yes, I have given it 'the benefit of the doubt' a couple of times it just keep on going.

A bit like that bloody energiser bunny.

As I say, I can't even get intermittent, if you select intermittent it just keeps wiping normally. The only change is if you select fast wipe.

So I now have a toggle switch... (It may become apparent, that I'm quite a fan of metal toggle switches  )

Probably teaching me Granny to suck eggs-but the stalk will activate a switch somewhere along the line which must be US.
Locate and replace would be my advice.

Probably a worn wipermotor. Had that too once with the GLS. A Cam should operate a switch. But when its worn, it doesn't touch it.
