Hello all! ive been a long time reader first time poster! Im due to collect a 1983 345 1.4 on wednesday from a bloke who found it in a barn! been there for 7 years! but my question to you is...... what fuel do i put in it? just bog standard 95ron? or super unleaded 99ron? and do i need to put lead replacement treatment in when i fill her up? i had a 360 gle a few years back and loved it so when this lil puppy came up for grabs i couldnt say no! :D gonna run her for a month or so to iron out any issues then i will be back with questions about lowering and alloys! but apart from that she is staying standard! (SLOW AND LOW)
Look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers
Rob

Yalrite rob.
Welcome to the fourm mate.

It'll run fine on unleaded with no replacement.
Runs better on premium (apparently) but ive had both through and couldnt tell much difference.

Seven years in a barn? takes more than that to kill a 300!
Slow and low FTW dude, sound very cool.

Get some snaps up too.
barnfinds always rock.

Whilst the valve seats are good, you *should* have a B14.4 with early renix unit, so the timing will be advanced 4degrees and will require super!

VND... this should apply to you too buddy from memory, check the number on your renix unit. Last three numbers being 412 means it's been converted and ok on straight 95 (the renix table look up says these came in around '87), your's both should be 402 which has the 4degs of advance.

Change all the fluids as soon as you can!

Cheers

Whats a renix unit?

seriously though, mine runs sweet on unleaded. Ive olny had super in once.
Previous owner said hed'd run on unleaded for the duration of ownership with no problems too.
Whats the ramifications of running unleaded Chris?

I don't know well enough about the early 1.4's mate, but I'm assuming as there is a renix with and without that amount of advance, the first one is running a bit hotter. Without super, the fuel doesn't have enough combustables per unit and will pink. If yours has been run that way for ages, it may have the later renix in... it's worth a look

402 is the number.
B14.4E = 402 (from 1985 has change up indicator)
Will I be pinked to death?

Underneath is very clean and solid there is a little rot on one of the strut tops (size if a 5p) but other than that im sure she will be ok! there is also bad bit of rot on the o/s/f wing (not structural) front lower part near the front valence anyone got any blue wings kicking around? ill let you know how i get on!

Change all the fluids and it'll be fine, my old 343 was stored for 6 years and it was fine - just needed a brake overhaul. By any chance is yours a light Y reg that was on ebay? My 343 also ran fine on 95Ron with no pinking, even though they recommend super unleaded

mine was sitting in a garage for a few years, just had a new battery and it fired up right away. drove her 230km to my place without any problem. 2 tires flat in the next morning though :) no fun without danger...

and yes, changing fluids is what to do first if you wanna drive her.
mine waiting for the 16v to drop in so I saved the fluid-change ;)
