Taxed and MOT'd 340 wanted - 1.4 engine. I had two of these cars in my late teens and early 20s and found them extra reliable. Miss owning them!! Will travel to pick up cars in good condition!

As stupid as it sounds, you'll likely get better mpg out of the 1.7... as long as you keep on top of it! The carbs are no where near as bomb proof, and the car *has* to be serviced at the service intervals to keep it like that though

The Sheffeild 3dr looks to be a bit of a bargain if it's not as rusty as the Titanic.

What is the 1.4 automatic like? Durable transmission?

I have no idea what the variomatics are like, but i think you'll struggle to find one without any problems for that price (although i may be wrong) after all the youngest ones are something like 18yrs old now.
