Ambient temp gauge

I've got an ambient temp gauge for sale. It includes the sender, but I don't think I have a loom for it. Fear not...it's just two wires, and some cars (mainly 360 GLTs) are pre-wired anyway.

£20 for a quick sale?

cheers

James

Smiths, VDO?

Possibly something for a Mk1 / MkII phase 1 :)? If so ... dibs!

I do have both vacuum and ambient temp gauges for the "generation 2 dash" (later mk1 / early mk2)...but I'm just showing off by saying that...they're not for sale ;) I bought them from a guy who, very annoyingly, listed them on eBay about 3 years ago as being for an Amazon / P1800...even though when I asked, he knew full well, and just wanted to make more money. He had a 2-3 sets, but they all sold.

The one I'm talking about is for a VDO dash...but I probably have smiths ones too...for a gen 3 (mk2/3) dash.

cheers

James

Hi all.
I have just managed to fit a VDO vacume gauge to a smiths cluster. You need a 16mm wood
drilling bit and a bit of nerve.I was so pissed of after breaking the smiths one,i was determind
to make it fit.It does and it works fine.
Cheers Mark. :360:

AFAIK there were 4 types of amb temp gauges in all: 2 "early" types which went in an extra gauge panel - the yellow DAF-style one from '76 to '79, then one with white dials from '80 to '82. Then with the new dash they were integrated in the instrument cluster - first the white-needle Smiths type from '83 to '84 and then the final VDO version from '85 to '91.

DAF-stylee, yellow needles:

Volvo-type, white needles (the type I'm after):

There were even more econometers though. Something like 6 different types? The yellow and white "extra gauge panel" ones (just like the amb temp gauges) but around 1980 some type of dashboard mounted one turned up too:

then the integrated Smiths '83 / '84 type, followed by two different VDO styles ...

Gauge is now sold :) Thanks for your interest guys.

I have the white-faced 80-82 type. Sorry Tom! ;)

I'm sure we once saw *another* VDO style one. Can't remember the details now though.

cheers

No worries, James, it's not #1 on my list of priorities right now ...

52mm V240 ones would fit too (thanks Mark for the link :-)):

but I like the clean look of a white face with white needles ;-)

Hey, I forgot! There were another "pod" type set of gauges for the earliest '76 - '77 models which fitted either side of the clock:

Then, in '78 this space was taken up with air vents:

so the "extra gauge panel" (three 52mm gauges) was thought up:

only to be replaced in '79 with the two-gauge type panel.

So now we're at 5 different types of amb temp gauge and 7 econometers.

Anyone still awake ;-) ?

Are they any different to 300 ones? I'd guess not, if they're from a similar period ...
Important for me: white needles and a fitting sensor :-)

Erm...
Oil temperature gauges! To be had with °F and °C calibrations. Red and white needles.
Voltmeters! Lots of different types, the '76 and '77 dash had them as standard (yellow of course) fitted in the main instrument cluster.
Oil pressure gauges! To be had in ... erm 3 bar and 5 bar form. Or in pounds per square inch.

Now I've run out of boring trivia. Someone else's turn.
