F*** Maybe I'll just scrap the car
!!!!!!!
This is the best that a Volkswagen dealer could do for me in scotland.
volvosneverdie, what dealer did you go to? id like to give them a phone and see what they say.
trabitom99, any info would be great

If you're in a pinch and truly can't find any, maybe I can send you a couple? The key here is NOT to go to a brand- or maker-specific dealer, but a generic parts dealer. Here's the correct one:
Volvo 340DL Variomatic -89
Volvo 360GLT -86
Volvo 360GLT -86

Re: Are the Seat thust bearings meant to be plastic
Thanks guys. I'll phone up the VW dealer and see what they say. Then if Im bored I might phone my local dealers up and tell them where I can get the part hassle free, Its great having a week of work!
I'll give some of the motor factors people a go aswell, Ive had all the part numbers written up on my wall for a couple of weeks, just not found any shops who care enough to get them for me!
And If I hit a wall again I'll scream for help!

The ACTUAL PART i recieved was stamped with VW, SEAT, AUDI logos. All in a circle on the top side.
Its a generic replacement. or what I got was anyway. But i didnt note the part number.
Where did you source it from in the end dude?
Re: Are the Seat thust bearings meant to be plastic
Warning. If they point to Audi 80 / VW Passat thrust bearings, it's likely to come pre-mounted to a rubber thingy, as I stated in that earlier thread. The part number (VAG code) is 8A0 412 323D in that case. Don't get that. It's nearly impossible to remove the bearing intact from that mounting.

Re: Are the Seat thust bearings meant to be plastic
Sorted!! I got some today and they are the famous 823 412 249!
I got them from an Audi dealer, I might be wrong, but I believe these to be an Audi part.
I would recommend anyone else looking for these makes sure they get them from an Audi dealer, as I found the Seat and Volkswagen only dealers were prohibited from ordering these.
