Hi Y'all
I've owned a black 340 1.7 redline for the past four years without major problems. Only 72K on it now. This year it needed some welding underneath but not much. However, the Carb has gone all rubbishy with fuel leaking in from secong choke which makes decelerating and tick over kinda lumpy. I've been qouted about £50 for a refurbl kit. Is this good value?
I'm planning to change the rear shockers soon. What's the best upgrade for these? cheers Frank

Hi all, Thanks for the replies and advice. I hadn't gone away but was v.busy lately. I did send for the carb refurbishment kit plus floats from a very nice man at Fuel Systems UK. I have them in the glove box and they will be fitted next Tuesday by my favourite techie in local workshop. I'll let you know how I get on.
On another issue, I couldn't believe how sluggish the beast was until, while checking the carb, I noticed that the plasic throttle cabe adjustment had stripped. I was therefore getting only 1.2 chokes opperating. A cable clamp fixed that and now she lifts up her skirts and scuttles along beatifully. Wrexham to Cardiff in 2.5 hours last Sunday. I'm impressed.
In the local scrappie, there is a black redline (?) with frontend damage. I have been offered the interior trim and seats for a very realistic price. I really only need the driver's seat as the lumber adjustment wheel has snapped off (Clumsy or massive (or both) MOT techie). With only two previous careful owners my interior is fairly mint. Just got to 73 K.

Well, I had the carb refurbished and it passed the emmissions test OK but still ran lumpy. The techie said 'take it away and try it.'. He'd obviously done his best and wasn't that happy with it. So I did try it and wasn't that happy either. However, I decided to check out the ingnition stuff, strting at the plugs. All was OK until ig ot to taking the distrubuter cap off. (Got the scars to prove it). The terminals inside had a kind of alloy cake build-up on them which could be prised off with a small screwdriver. I cleaned them with a small file and replaced the cap. It runs fine again now. This is the third dizzy capa and rotor I have replaced in 4 years.
Is this unusual and does anyone have any ideas why?
