B200 Air-Con Bracket Kaput *EDITED FOR STUPIDITY*

G'day!

Whilst checking over the car yesterday at work, I noticed that one of the mounts on the alloy bracket has sheared. This isn't an item that I would have noticed really, so it might have been like that for a while. I took it to the local independant Volvo specialist (luckily just around the corner!) who tell me that since they wouldn't be able to bodge up the bracket, it would have to be changed, and they tell me the bracket is likely to be the same as a B230-engined 240 from that same year.
The car is still drivable obviously - but I don't want to run the risk of the remaining two mounts on the bracket failing totally due to the increase vibration and leaving me stranded somewhere or trashing the car.
Can someone verify that the 360 and 240 brackets are the same? Obviously out here a 240 bracket is much easier to source :)

Cheers

Tom.

**** It's actually the Air-Con Bracket to the Air-con pulley/Motor. Never work on your car in the dark:) The Volvo guys - after much sniggering confirmed that, yes it's still the same bracket.... I feel so stupid! Anyway pic below of the knackered bracket.

Look ive had a rough week okay :)

Not sure although it can't be too hard to make yourself one out of 10mm steel?

That's how it's looking :) The bracket is an alloy item though, I've got a few parts places looking for me, but most of the foreign car specialists don't stock parts for anything older than 15 years, or have plenty of parts for 200's and 360's (door, bumpers, wings, engines and the like) but not the one I need - always the way eh? :)
So yes, I've got a mate looking into fabricating a bracket for me ( I'd do it myself, but I have neither the time nor the equipment sadly) so hopefully I'l be able to sort it soon, otherwise I'll hit e-bay and see what I can get sent.
Like I said it's not totally knackered - it might have been like that for some time - but I'd rather get it sorted out fairly quickly.

Looks like I can get an Air-Con bracket sent over from Sydney for A$100 (about 40quid) The chap was surprised I couldn't find any 360's to break over here. So was I!!!

Tom, does the bracket you've ordered look like the part in this diagram? I'd be very interested in that spacer I've circled red, as it's missing from mine:

Maybe I can contribute something towards your bracket costs ;-)

Yes I think thats it........

I've no idea when I'll be getting this bracket sent over, but when I get it, it'll be fitted by the local Volvo guys (on account of me not having any tools or time - and wanting to get the air-con regassed as well.) I'll tell them to let me keep the old bracket and i'll strip it down and have a look at it for you.

Leave it with me....

Tom.
