M.O.T. ran out today so trying to get it done for York meet on Sunday. Rear silencer is blown and pipe gone through (I think it's the original one (27 years old!). I've just taken it off tonight and was wondering if I'm going to have trouble getting one tomorrow. I was thinking I'd got one (which I've got for the 1.7 340) but just noticed that that one will only fit an 85 onwards 360 (and 1.7 340). Anyone had to buy one recently ? I'm assuming they are still available, but that I may have to wait for delivery.

Hi mate.
My 83 GLS back box is also a gonner.I got one delivered to my door for £28.00
including postage on ebay a while back.
The local motor factors wanted £75.00 plus vat for one.Hope this helps.
Cheers Mark. sm4

Thanks, I've got a couple on order now, from two places! One is a Walker, (not sure of cost yet) it's apparently the last one in the warehouse in Birmingham. The other is a Bosal (£42). I just thought it would be worth having a spare. What make is yours? I'm probably being paranoid about future availability, but it's probably not a part places keep in stock anymore, so a pain when your needing one in hurry.

Probably best to have a spare, I normally find Bosal's last about 18months to 2 years before the silencers go or they rust out. However, they are very cheap for 1.7 bits (Southern exhausts are about 20-25 quid per section with silencer) and normally on stock there too.

It's not a worry about it nor being available tbh, exhausts are the easiest things to make from universal parts if you really have to.

I very much bet the Walker part to be much better quality. The Bosal systems I've had on my 360's in the past have rusted apart quite quickly around the joins. Incidentally the Walker warehouse is right round the corner from me :D

Just got the walker one this pm and fitted it, £51, bit more expensive than the bosal one. Fits ok but pipe sticks out a bit at the back. Looked like its been kicked around the warehouse for the last few years, bracket bent and covered in dents :o. Manufactured in 2006 according to label and it was, by all accounts the last one in the country!
Got the radiator back in today after re-soldering the top hose joint and so far so good...no leaks.
M.O.T. first thing tomorrow so fingers crossed it will be ok for Sunday.

I fitted a Walker centre section and rear box to my old 360. Seemed a pretty decent exhaust and it was on the shelf in the motorfactors :D They were so damn happy to shift it they let me have it with 65% off

I needed one quickly for the M.O.T., the old one was very bad and I'm sure it would have failed, if I need any other parts before the National, I'll let you know

thanks, Andy
