Oil filter with anti-return valve, too expensive

Post by CBA »

The original volvo filters on ebay are a bit damn pricey for me.
Anyone know of a good place to order a cheap filter that has the anti return valve?

Reading that the oil light shoud go out at cranking... mine goes off after 1 second of running, but will go off on cranking after just being run, leading me to believe I have a filter without this valve, leading to a bit of extra engine wear I don't want or need.

So any sources on a cheap filter with an anti return valve in it? - 1.4 85' 340 just keeping the costs down, the bank takes my money away :(

Unipart Sureflow Supreme is available in both of the thread types found on Sierra units, I remember using those on my R12 and finding their anti draindown valve every bit as effective as Renault's own ones.
I have a spare 3517857-3 as they were a recognised upgrade for the Rebel's 750cc all-aluminium engine, but as your car is an '85 that's right on the point when they changed the unc for a mm thread on Sierra, if yours takes that then you're welcome to it for what I get them at; £4 +p&p.

Pricey? I thought they were about 5-6 quid for the genuine ones?

Agreed... sounds like someone is buying them and punting them on ebay for a quick quid...
