The flywheel is still intact, but the clutch middle plate has moved and looks damaged. The bearing in the clutch shaft housing was quite noisy, I think it may have seized and jammed perhaps, bending the clutch shaft and causing the damage to the clutch. This also would have torsion loaded the bellhousing dramatically, probably what shattered it.

one of the clutch fingers has broke off with some fatigue action,,,,,,,,,then gone through the bellhousing like a bullet/knife,,,,,,,that cover plate looks like it had seen high mileage

yeah ive come across those pesky bulletknifes on other cars,,,,,,and having them near rare bits of machinery is the biggest cause of breakdowns so i hear from the RAC's latest poll

crackaBOOOM!

Quite well done, haven't seen that one before in 300, when it decides to go it goes, that is which we have to live with, but surely that is pissing one off when it happens without a warning, lot of hours and lot of money needed again and only to get car like it was before, hopefully next build up will last tad longer, it is unfair when car fails like that :?
