No error, it's got VDO on the face.
I could live without VDO on the face of gauge, but from some odd reason most others have stopped making ambient temp gauges in few years time, it is very difficult to find any.
There is of course used Volvo gauges, but installing such into french crap would be a disgrace of worst kind, imo.
VDO and Smiths are two quite expensive makers, Volvo did not go cheap when choosing their instruments
But how I would like to get someday proper old school dials like
Of course ambient temp gauge too, but it means that I have to make it myself then, nobody is making such pieces of jewelry and none ever did make them in that style.

If it must be analogue, could you not find something suitable robbed from some kind of aircraft?
Or start with a Volvo gauge and use another sender and get the dial recalibrated to the scale you want.
Airfcraft word itself in name adds 200 to price here
Volvo gauges are not made anymore so I try not to destroy one of them, however I could take water temp gauge to work with, those does not cost much at all, it then needs new facial plate and some sender that would produce proper movement range. It is possible to make one, it just needs bit of work.
White acryl and printed vinyl is perhaps most affordable (and still rather ok looking) solution to get new facial plate. It might be a project worth the effort
