My clutch has started slipping quite severely, I must accelerate very gently to stop it slipping.
I saw on another post a suggestion that the clutch diaphram spring can fail.
It seems strange to me that this problem should become severe so suddenly, so maybe it is the spring rather than the clutch itself.
any ideas?
could wet weather have any role in it?

The most normal cause for 'sudden' clutch slip is usualy oil contamination , most commonly from the rear main oil seal, or the seal failing on the spigot bearing in the back of the crank, but i have seen problems caused by oil leaks from the top of the engine ie rocker cover/ cam seals when the oil runs down a hole in the casing like the hole for the ignition sensor. unfortunately you will have to strip it appart and replace bits regardless of what caused the original failure, take my advice renew as much as possible as theres nothing worse than doing a job like that twice
Husky's right. get as much done as possible while that $%^& is out, because on the 360s I don't care what it says in the books, its either a gearbox out job, which is a complete nightmare and you'll be cursing trying to undo those torque tube allen bolts and then trying to thread the g/box+diff under the rear axle; or its an engine out job which means draining fluids and disconnecting lots of stuff, but if you've got the equipment, IMO a whole lot more favourable.
Get a clutch kit from Ovlov which consists of a new pressure plate, clutch plate and release bearing, and then buy a clutch fork as well, cos these wear too causing clonking noises. There's also a small piece of plastic in the release pin which thins out causing a not smooth change, thats a few pence to change so do that too.

clutch slipping
It seems to have come good again and appears to be not slipping at all.
I was wondering if the cluth cable might need lubrication and/or adjustment, not letting the partly worn cluth go back into place far enough when the pedal is released.
But seeing the problem has now gone away for the moment maybe it is a minor oil leak.

360 clutches are famous for juddering badly, which we think might be oil leak related, as they only do it in certain circumstances - when they've been parked facing uphill, and when the clutch is 'hot' through heavy use. London traffic jams = particular 360 clutch unhappiness
Ours has always done it in exactly the same way - from 4 years old to the present day - and despite a clutch change.

clutch not slipping at the moment
It was very wet at the time it was slipping. I wondered if water could have got in through the inspection hole, I have not looked under to look at it.
It was really slipping severely, taking of at lights, but seems fine now.
I see the Haynes manual says the cluth pedal should be 150 +/- 10 mm from the floor. Mine is 170. Could this have anything to do with it?
