Low Oil Pressure???

Post by Chris_C »

Me wrote:Nah... too half a bar. 3k hot, and cold idle is around 4.5bar, hot idle is 0.5-1bar.

*runs to check in Russek*

Hmm, Russek thinks it should be 1.5-2.5 kg/sq cm at 800rpm, 1 kg/sq cm is 0.98 bar, so mine looks like it's going a bit low.

4.0-4.5 kg/sq cm at 3k, which is what I'm getting. I'll double check figures later... but don't get how it would be lower than it should at idle and not rev'd... if it was the oil pump, surely both would be lower? I'll put this to the engine questions section
Ok, so what could be causing me to be around 1/2 a bar down guys? Having had a look, it's around one bar ish (then again... I guess the accuracy of the gauge can be caled into question, I do run a 10bar gauge, so not that easy to split hairs. And is it worth worrying about?

Personally no mate i was speaking to my uncle about mine and he said providing its making gud pressure when cold and it is making pressure at warm idle it should be fine.
Reasons for the differance could be gauge and sender,
and suprisingly type of oil used!!!!

Oil can make a big difference to pressure as I have found.
What grade are you using?

Theres a question.... On the face, I'm not sure, what ever Halford chart said for a '90s carb engine. I might still have the bottle around. Having had another look, I reckon its definately more 1 than 1/2 bar, I was looking at the gauge sideways (Must have forgot A-level physics...)

Yeah, having been watching this since I brought it up, it is actually me being a retard and not being able to remember whats on the gauge/read the gauge that was teh problem, I havn't seen anything less than one appear. As to the 10bar bit, I just got ones that matched 300 clusters, unlike 200 ones ;)!

Nah, I got three of them..... minus 30 ;) At least that would kinda explain my score at the national....

Full Marks (140 IRC) as Kar is so spotless.....
-5 for small amounts of dust (ok... it was slightly muddy....)
-10 non orig amp
-10x4=40 non orig speakers (per channel...)
-10x3=30 non orig gauges
-10x2 = 20 non orig footwell lights

Thats nearly what I scored.... must have forgotten to take something else away though :P

Edit: Remebered...

-10 Broken boot strut (which I broke trying to nick Foggy's)
-20 Extra bonnet, second in wrong location
+10 Orig Volvo battery (Cheers Adam)
+5 For as many blue orig parts bags/boxes littering inside the car as I could find

There, much closer to my score!!!
