Seatbelt removal?

Post by D4V2K1 »

I've just tried to remove a drivers seatbelt, seemed easy enough until it came to getting the actual 'reel' of the belt at the bottom out. I just couldn't seem to get a socket or anything on it.

Is it just the one bolt thats holding it in? Or have i missed something?

I only had a quick attempt as i was in a hurry.

Any help would be appreciated.:)

iirc there is only one bolt , pull all the seatbelt off of the reel and wrap it round the headrest so you have your hands free to attack the bolt , there is a little stud on the back of the fixing plate that lines up with a hole in the door pillar but it dosent stop you getting the reel out once the bolt is undone

I'll give that a try later. Cheers mate.

On the plus side i also picked up a working econometer, ambient temp gauge and sender, lumbar support knob and some moulded mats! :D

LOL good work there chap! You nearly hit the jackpot, just an auxillary gauge panel, 300 driving computer and air con to find! Not bad though really, considering how many gauges and rare items must have been scrapped or thrown away with no idea that they may be wanted or of use to somebody in previous years. Good description from Mick on the seatbelt, from memory that's pretty much how it goes.

To get the socket on the bolt you havce to pull the seatbelt right out, as the belt wraps round the drum it makes the drum bigger so you cant get to the bolt!!!

And it will be *tight*, and a silly thin head, so mind you don't slip and take a knuckle or three
