Weight of a B2xx engine

Post by Carl »

Any ideas for a 4 cylinder n/a lump? Including ancillaries ideally.

I reckon around 200kg, but would like a more accurate number if anyone knows?

Cheers

Three of us could barely lift a turbo long-block out of the boot of my 360, although that's nasty job anyway! A shortblock is supposed to be a reasonable lift for one stout person...so I'd guess 60-75kg for that.

What I can tell you is that an I6 is bloody ridiculously heavy for an ally block engine. I'm not too small, and me and a mate could lift it about an inch off the deck before we had to put it down.

cheers

That little? I must be weaker than I thought then :)

Off to buy an engine stand now then, and dont have to fork out for the heavy duty one

I wouldn't be depressed Carl. I'd call a longblock without manifolds a fair lift for two people. Chesh used to lift a shortblock instead of going to the gym, but it was a serious weight to lift :)

cheers

I shifted the B230 (complete with everything) with a mate and it was bloody hard work just to lift it a few feet across the garage!! An engine standard is only £30 so I figure it'll be far easier to use that than struggle stripping and reaplcing parts whilst on the ground!
