Not to worry, I'm taking the car off the road for a few month. This problem could be fixed in a week tops I'm sure but want to sort loads of other things.

So I'm now the (proud?) owner of Cali the Corsa (b). Red 1.2 16v Powahhh. Nice cheap run around while I sort ol' Volvo out

Good luck getting it sorted, I was thinking of doing the same but I knew I would just spend money on the daily and forget the volvo

haha It's not too bad really, I've actually washed it and tried to renovate the paint back to semi-red. Its got way more rust and dints than mine but theres some practice in repairing stuff i don't have to worry about the final outcome Came on astra mk3 15" alloys which will be being kept for the volvo for spares when the time comes to get shot of the Corsa. MPG will be the nicest part

Having to really resist doing stuff too it, back in boy racer mode. I'd have gone for something retro or nice but don't want to loose interest in the volvo at all.

Resisting doing stuff to them is easy. They are horrible to work on, pretty much everything is made out of cheese. Brake fittings especially.

I'm intrigued why you bought one with rust though! My 94 plated thing has no rust at all, it's the only reason it's allowed to stay.

Just wanted something with tax and test for cheap. Even if i just scrap it when it's time comes i don't mind. Needed something for next week and rather than worry on about getting the volvo done, thought why not get something to run around in and do ALL the jobs on the volvo properly and without rushing. I know what you mean everything is pretty flimsy but it will do lol. Sooo wanna stick a V3M sticker on it lol

Fatal mistake (not rushing). You may be in danger of becoming as slow as me (and end up with too many cars)

I know, i never wanted to do this as I'd always think 'ah well there's no rush' and end up leaving the volvo to rot. Corsa tax runs out september and I'll be back at college then so should kick me into doing some stuff.

Think when the novelty of having a boy-racer-mobile wears off I'll be straight back in the volvo

Tbf, the corset is the best thing that's happened to Fake. Yes, she's off the road more often, but I've been able to do a heck of a lot of "big" (ok, not huge, but things like engine mounts etc) engineering properly, with thought, jigs and a real result that's fixed problems rather than put them off.

That's why i chose to do this, We've pretty much sussed its the fact the prop was slightly rusty and as a result has wedged it's self in the release bearing. Should just take a day to get it free, and stick the old torque tube and g/boxback on and the car will be ready for road. BUT i want to do the front suspension as its a tad loose due to wrong radius arm nuts and the bottom arms need drilling to fit the new arb. Plus loads of other things like bodywork and oil cooler to do while I have more than a few hours at a time to work on it.

Might keep the corsa as a mini project too, its got the cups on now

Yours is a modern corset ffs, how can it be rusty and a project :p

Good news on the list for the GLT though. It really is worth making a real list and ticking stuff off I've found, a: you don't forget stuff and b: it feels good looking at a piece of paper with lots of ticks on it!
