Like a watch!

Post by fidgad »

I have posted previously my trials and tribulations re the rough-running Redline. Well now she's running beatifully and ticking over like a watch. :D

I sent for and fitted the carbureta reconditioning kit and, while going like a train on the dual carriage etc, the engine was terrible at tickover, slow speeds and on the over-run. So I went to the scrappy and changed the whole engine management system from a wrecked Redline. Better but still not good. Fitted new distributer cap- no change. Then  someone mentioned the 'idle solenoid' situated in the side of the carb.
This morning off to scrappy, 2 quid buys me a solenoid. Insert into my motor, tweak the idle and mixture settings, BINGO.

8 to 9 K revs ticks over like a watch and drives like a limo!
Also think I've sorted the clicking noise from left side. Techie took the door panels off. poked about a bit on the hinges, pressed in bit of grease and no noise - yet. A longer journey will test it out.
Now one happy bunny. 340pw

So if yours is running ragged, check the solenoid first!
