WTD: Mk3 360 GLT

Post by SteveP »

In a moment of madness (and boredom) does anyone have anything out there/know of anything about?

Mk3 360 GLT
Colour - Not too fussed, prefer not white or red
As little rust as possible, bodywork must be good
Preferably under 100k miles
3 or 5 door, prefer a 3 door but know how unlikely that is
Would prefer one with PAS than without as I felt the manual rack in my GLS was far too many turns lock to lock
Must have current MOT

It's either that or wait for Foggy to sort out his B plate one, assuming you can wait 8 years.......

True that silver one is very nice, but since I'm in no rush I hope I can be a little bit picky and that doesn't have PAS :( IMO it makes a big difference to how the car feels - it's not the weight of the steering it's the speed

There's a reason that the GLT has less turns lock to lock... and it has a wider turning circle. The speed of rack is very very close between the two

The manual rack just feels awful in comparison IMO - you end up like a hamster in a wheel!

To add I could possibly extend this thought to any late spec 3 door 340, preferably a 1.7 as I've not tried one of them yet - but it'd have to be pretty nice!

I've got a mk3 GLT in an advanced state of disassembly. It'll be mint when finished and will be getting either a spicy 16VT redblock or perhaps a 2.3 on carbs. Shouldn't take too much money to pry it from my grasp either.

Sounds rather interesting John. It's either something like this or I'll just go and buy a 924S instead (It's like a 300 right??)

^^^ Yeah they certainly match a 300 for rust anyway. They're galvanised but not well, so you still have to weld them up, but you get a massive headache from the zinc.
