The stepped type fly is known as a 'dog dish'. i don't know how compatible your setup is. I can say for certain that a stepped fly and 360 cover/pressure plate are compatible though as that's what I was running.

? ok well i could not use the 360 pressure plate as the b200e flywheel woz not a dog dish type so i used the pressure plate from the 740 non turbo and the flywheel and the 360 clutch plate

Why use the n/a 740 pressure plate, would the 740 Turbo pressure plate not fit on the B200 flywheel? Also what management is the FT on, LH 2.2 or 2.4? If 2.4 you must have had the flat flywheel machined with the induction pickup for the CPS or are are you running a trigger wheel on the crank pulley?

Some more info would maybe help mate.

The route I have taken is; dog dish LH 2.4 flywheel (360 bellhousing adapted for B230 block mounted CPS), 360 pressure and friction plates. That worked like a charm aside from slipping a bit. That's cos the 360 pressure plate isn't up to it, hence needing a Turbo one. I would imagine the same applies to the n/a 740 part.

I can't understand what is causing yours to lock up/hit the bellhousing though. Sure it's not the starter? Had it running??

*In theory* the B200E and B200F flywheels are physically identical except for the timing pattern. There shouldn't have been a flat flywheel in there (the only other option on a 360) as they went out in 1983 or 1984.

*In theory*, again, the clutches are identical except the splines and friction material / clamping force. However, I have seen some with different tolerances - for example a Volvo-branded disc that wouldn't fit inside a AP-branded cover...whereas the AP-branded disc would.

I would have expected any dished flywheel to fit, and any clutch designed for any dished flywheel to fit inside the bellhousing. I know a number of people who've run 360 discs with 740 Turbo plates, so it is possible. Do you have pictures of what you have?

cheers

I've got a combo that works. Could be interested in a deal with your flywheel as I am looking for a flat one.

Stick some pics up?

Bump. We encountered this problem on Adam's car, too - the clutch from the donor 940 didn't fit. Ended up fitting the complete 360 clutch. Interesting to see how long it lasts!

Is he still running 4psi? Iain says it goes alright. Gave his Nova a run for it's money!

As for the clutch, I fitted a new 360 one and it couldn't hack clutch drops, was OK it you went easy until she was rolling though.

Yeah, still only 4psi. It doesn't feel any faster than my B200 on carbs...but there's probably a good reason for that - 4psi only gets you 140-150bhp with that turbo! To be fair, there's a lot of work to do before it sees any more power. I'm withholding the MBC I've got for him until he sorts out his suspension and brakes sm56

I'm not convinced she's anything near 140-150 yet tbh. She's certainly quicker than a B200e, but she's not near an F7R yet, I'm very surprised you think it's near your's James.

I have lots of hope when the boost goes up though :D

How quickly did you go in it? It does start to stretch its legs above 50 or so. Lower speeds do feel 'sedate', though. Still some work to do...

To be honest, I don't want to make it go any faster until the rest of the car is in a better state to support it. I've already made one parts contribution :)

cheers
