head gasket gone?
head gasket gone?
iv got the emulsified oil on the filler cap, not loads but a bit but im not seeing any other symptoms, its not emulsified on the dip stick, no white smoke, coolants still the right colour still got power
Re: head gasket gone?
Could just be moisture, go give the car a good warming up (and maybe an Italian tune on the dual carriageway)
Re: head gasket gone?
my radiator had a hole in as well not sure if this was caused by a small leak then the pressure build up making it bigger (if the head gasket has gone)
Re: head gasket gone?
Could just be condensation if you do a lot of short journeys etc, I'd do a compression test to confirm

Re: head gasket gone?
thanks for the info ill take it for a compression test next week hopefully
Re: head gasket gone?
Its quite common for radiator leaks to leak to gasket failure as the coolant gets diluted by top ups. Its the coolant additive that stops the aluminium head corroding against the steel block, particularly at no 4 piston (360).
B200's go on for ages with leaky gaskets without any real symptoms, but do require a skim after. Normally you'll see a little mound of iron rust on the head in a blind waterway that has crept towards the cylinder.

Re: head gasket gone?
Yep I've seen the above on redblocks too - one car in question would run on 3cyls on initial start up til the water went from that cylinder

Re: head gasket gone?
mines a valver will it be the same?
Re: head gasket gone?
Did you try warming it up yet? Give it a good thrashing (when warm) before you start worrying.
Re: head gasket gone?
i think ill give that a go just waiting on rad and does any1 know if the radiator pipes can be bought for the conversion coz 1 of mine has a small hole where it hit the altenator
Re: head gasket gone?
Ahh your engine has been sitting around, likelyhood of moisture is rising
Re: head gasket gone?
Just replace the dodgy hose with a same diameter and bend radius hose new. Ebay is good for those I've found. May as well upgrade to silicone while your at it.
Something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/32mm-Rubber-R ... 168wt_1031
You can obviously get bends and reducers depending and what you want/need.

Re: head gasket gone?
No, the pipe will pinch and stop flow, you have to use pre-formed bendsfrazeb wrote:i can just bend it by hand and it will be fine?
