If you have a 360, I suggest you to check the following places (near the gearbox) because it's very often rusted there... Even if you don't really see it... (pic 1) but when you remove the paint... (pic2)

Lot of donors cars and parts... V3M for life!
the MOT in holland (APK) is quite strict, a car with this amount of corrosion damage would not pass it. thats why a lot of 300's go to the scrapyard.
same problem is at the front, behind the licence plate.
if more then 25% of the joint has come loose because of the rust (in practice, when it rusts beside the licence plate) you must have it welded for APK.
I agree with you, there's a design flaw... But in Belgium it would pass! I had a similar problem on my 340 vario (but worse) and it was ok for one year. I got the green certificate (=ok) and there was just an observation on it. Of course I had to repair it so the car could survive for the next inspections... and they don't really look at the front valance...... I've heard that it was really strict in the Netherlands for that front valance!

Pls come to Romania and you will get your MOT/APK aka ITP in here for only 20E or something like that!
In here we hav cars that look25 times worse and they pass it every year! Sometimes i am happy that i live in a country whre with a few euros i can fix problems that in the Western Europe are impossible to pass
Oh, unfortunately not I would had been the first to com and buy a Volvo or something, but i can't register them in here, cose they don't have EURO3. ANd this realy can't be avoided...for nothing. But you, as a foreigner, you can use your car in RO without any problems.
Wait... You can't buy a 360 GLT (in Germany for example, found on EBAY), bring it back to Romania and register the car there??? Even a car with catalysator? That must be a joke! Are you sure about that??

My old 360 GL had rust on that point on booth sides. It didn't look that bad from the beginning but one of them was so bad that it had to be welded for the APK (MOT) The other one got stabilized with rust threatment and it was good enough to pass.
The design of the chassis is already quite old because it was basicly the same as the DAF's. May be they could have changed it a little bit when they started manufacturing the 300 series. The chassis on the 200 series is actually very good. It takes a long time before these cars start to rust on those places.
