Well i dint know what else to call it really!! So i had to rebuild my speedo as the trip was playing up and whilst i had the front of the cluster off, it gave me an idea.
I remembered the post a while back about the V3M logo for the rev counter. Well for my brake upgrade i bought a set of R logos from the bay and you get 6 so i used one in the gauge. If all 4 others work on the brakes first time i will prob use the sixth on the steering wheel!!
Anyway here is pics of the cluster!!
What you reckon?

P.S Sorry for the dodgey pics i was in a rush to get it back in the car!!!!
Now that I like! I need to have mine out soon to fix the speedo, as it's locked up, and I'm tempted to do something similar, especially after seeing the ace logos and ideas thrown up in another thread, I jsut don't have the means of prodcuing a nice clear background sticker, or something that would match the black well, so ideas on hold there.
That really does all look excellent with the red background, the contrast works for the gauge shapes and borders.

The whole speedo has been changed, its a 440 one which is based on the same mechanicals as a 300 one but the magnets that drive the needle are a different distance apart to the 300 one, hence a diff speed!!!

oh hang on..... just re read what you said... so basically its a complete swap, 440 for 340 but even though the speed numbers are in different places the speedo still reads correct?
if so this is useful bit of info... means you can just swap 340 speedo for 440 ones! good source of parts then as the 440s are younger!
Put it this way if i put infront of you a 340 and 440 speedo without faces needles and reflectice backing you wouldnt be able to tell the differance. It is different internally. The only tell tale signs are the date stamps on the back and the 340 has yellow 1/10 mile digits.
To get it to fit you need to swap a few things over from the 340 speedo but its not too bad i can swap them from a 340-440 in about 30mins and that includes modding the speedo.
The only 400 ones that fit however are earlier ones that have the needle similar to a 300 needle. The later speedos on 400's with the orange through the centre are electronically driven!!!
In the future i aim to use the speedo to operate a cruise control system from the 400 aswell!!!

No you need a 440 speedo to that add the acrylic behind the face of the dial from the 340 speedo, add the 400 face and trim to size.
Add 440 needle.
Use the trip pish mechanism, two black plastic pieces from the 340 one!!
Job done
Cheers Adam
thanks for explaining all! thanks for your patience!
If you have spare 300 and 400 speedo would it be possible to make a series of pics and text explaining how the whole job is done? would make a cool feature!
There's one article for the new 'how to' section! It's an interesting mod, one I might consider doing, if my cunning plan works, most likely it won't though! Anywho, I'll be eagerly awaiting the article!
And Fuse, dead impressed with those, like them a lot! I liked jtbo's effort witht he white ones too, good contrast!

If i can find some batteries for the camera i will start a new thread for this one and then it can be copied into the new forum how to guides!!
