Just noticed this tonight after i parked up and brought the clutch up with the engine off. When the pedal is moving up there is a kind of creaking noise as the pedal travels up.
Has anyone experienced this? Is my clutch or clutch cable on its way out or something?
I'm a bit wary now especially because i've got a good 400 odd mile journey looming at the weekend..
I don't know exactly how these things work so I might be entirely wrong, but here goes. The clutch in my Xantia creaked on and off for a year or so until one day I pressed the clutch to pull onto a roundabout and it went straight to the floor. The pedal in those things has a spring which is particularly prone to failing and is apparently a right bugger to fix. If there's something similar on the 360 then that might be a wise thing to check.
Doubt it'll be similar to the Xantia - they have a plastic clutch clip (til around 1999) which is prone to snapping. Same goes for the 405. Disgraceful design that could leave you immobilised!
my 360 makes the exact same noise. I was told it is the middle bearing inside the clutch that's got a bit loose. I don't know what you guys call that thing in English, I hope you know what I mean. It cannot do any harm though, my car has done this for over 6 months know (since I got her) and she never made a fuss about it.
Leather, leccy windows and mirrors, snowcap, foglights, open air filter, black roof upholstery. What more do you want? >a 2.3 turbo!
Does the noise actually sound like it is coming from the pedal area in the footwell or elsewhere. I'd personally not worry too much about a creaking/sqeaking noise, all mine have made a small sound. Something I need to investigate is an odd hollow clunking noise in the footwell when the pedal is released completely, it only happens at certain times, with a quick clutch pedal movement.

Well it all seemed fine last night. I did about 40 miles then stopped for fuel. I noticed it was doing it again when i got back in the car after paying. Seemed ok after then tho, and didn't notice it when i was driving. Will see what its like tomorrow. I have been thinking of getting a new clutch soon anyway.
Interesting. I drove home with the window down last night for the first time in ages and noticed that mine was making the same noise. I stopped for half an hour on the way, when I got back in the car the squeeking had stopped. Took him out later in the evening and it was squeeking again. It only happens when I release the pedal and seems to be coming from outside. Oh well, he's due for a service in June so I'll ask them about it then.

Volvo's have the horrible plastic clip too! I had one snap on me in South London years ago, I had a mk3 '60. Didn't squeak before it let go though - no warning at all.

I'd imagine alot of cars have them - although it's clearly not a common fault on 300s (I've never heard of it happening) compared to how common it is on Xantia's/405's. I think if you own either of them it *will* happen at some point!
