hey folks, just thought i'd say hi formally.

my name is charles, and i have a 1990 340 1.7

bought this one for 80squid off Ebay, she's done 125,000 miles, has a badly rusted rear left wheelarch and pops and bangs under deceleration. oh, and its covered in random primer graffitti. why not eh?

soon, i shall repair said rot, hopefully install the 480 Turbo engine, lower her and shoe her with weller steelies (as wide as i can manage at the rear) and attempt the LSD by M.I.G conversion.

the paintwork will remain so as to surprise ricers!

i got the bug initially with my first car, a 1988 340 DL 1.4 in mintish condish with 70,000 on the clock and a FVSH! wot i bought from BCA for the princely sum of 70pounds. the clutch was knackered, so i replaced it with the incorrect one from CAF (D'oh) this rendered all synchromesh useless, forcing me to learn the art of double-declutching (and switching the engine off to get it in reverse) it was a 4 speed, yet still topped out at 120 on the clock with some custom valve-bounce going on. unfortunately this car met its untimely demise in the form of 5 ex-railway sleeper bollards and a small tree at the hands of one of my 'friends'. 'sherman' still drove to the breakers yard however (despite a rear-end collision from my mate's mum who was following me to make sure i got there O.K !)

R.I.P Sherman

Long-live Loki my 'new' beast.

sorry its a bit of an Essay, but my experiences best sum up how i feel about these cars. if they can take all that and still keep moving, they're allright in my book!
