throttle pedal snapped off on 1st stage so it was really hard to press :D
the ratios do suck

It clearly shows how bad the ratios are, but excellent video!!

Man, I wish I could afford some stage rally action!

Tell me about it

When we get a chance to sort our $hit out-it'll be going back on injection, chairs flung in the rear, bit of axminster pelted at the floors and hit the lanes-ye ha

My weak computer did not show video at full speed but got at least sound, that was great :D

With 3.36:1 differential 3rd gear is really annoying, I think I would need 50hp more to get decent acceleration after shifting from 2nd to 3rd

Would be great to win in lottery, then I could get new box with good ratios, does cost only 2000-3000€ :P

Don't Quaife do a better gearset for the M47? I'm just going to lower the diff ratio a fair bit. It doesn't remove the 2nd-3rd hole, but makes the effect of the hole less noticable :)

cheers

Changing only one gear ratio could come lot chaper, but sequential box with very strong gears does cost some money, however it is very very fast and strong then :P

Maybe not for daily driver however. Noise of straight cut gears is something you dont like to hear every day

Beautiful...

Great to see a Mk2 GLT with a bit of money spent on it. Looks right at home there on that stage

Afraid not, that vid on Otterburn was the car with 4.78/1 and as can be heard it's still $hit.
It is the gearing of the box that needs alterring not the final drive.
The car has a direct top 5speed straight cut box with it that when it runs right the diff ratio controls terminal velocity but only alters slightly how it pulls thru the gears.

Think Bilbo has a 4.78/1 diff spare if that's the way you wanna go.

Wouldn't it be really just 4 usable gear in gearbox when you install such short differential ratio?

1st gear will top at 30-35kph, I think?

actually, thats a point, is the 4 speed box any better?

same ratios

Only possibility is then to order new gear sets to box and install them, my memory tells me that Foggy has seen Quaife selling gears for 240 box, those should fit to out box too?
But this memory of mine, it can be way wrong in this too.

I do know where to get gears in Finland, but won't be cheap...
