6 speed gearbox

I've found somewhere that offers a 6 speed gearbox that would fit very nice into a 300. It comes with LSD and a good range off gear ratios. The bummer is the price.

Does anyone want to donate £3500 so I can try one???

This interests me... good ratios and a slipper :D

It's not per chance off a standard car laying round in a scrappy (say... erm, that well known 6 speed transax mondeo thats common as muck) that you've forgotten to mention is it

I found these, only rated to low Torque...No good for turbo then!
You can get sequential box for that money as well! No good for turbo, again!!

could we all put in and have it for a month each, untill one of the 16vs breaks it lol

i'd be happy with a 5 speed straight cut box even 4 speed! with an LSD

Lol to a 16V breaking the box ;) It'd have muchos trouble with the stock one dude unless you are being special. It's application of torque that snaps things, and the valvers from the graphs I've seen has no where near enough of a square torque curve ;)

Tubby's on the other hand

What is an M90 out of?

How much work is involved in fitting a 240 to a 340? What set up are they?

340's already have 240 gearboxes, just mounted differently. An M90 is a later box from 940s and 960s IIRC, very tough and mounts directly to the engine. So to fit an M90 to a 300 you'd have to weld in a transmission tunnel for more space and fit either a different diff at the back (like a sierra one), or do what xtrmjks has done and bash in a 240 rear axle on escort 4-link kit. Though I reckon it could be possible to fit a 240 axle to the leaf springs.

I've always thought about that. How, for example, would you be able to fit a type-9 to a f7p? I know for that you'd have to get a bigger gearbox tunnel, is it possible? I've always fancied a volvo running on escort bits.

When J fitted his, the escort tunnel didn't really take up much more room. it's not that much work if you can weld well. To fit a type 9 would be just the same but you'd need an adaptor plate. If it's for an F7P/R, there's not much point as the type 9 isn't any stronger than our own M47R AFAIK.
